What is Addiction Treatment?
Addiction treatment is how people get their lives back. It’s a combination of medical care, therapy, and support designed to help you stop using drugs or alcohol—and figure out why it was so hard to stop in the first place. Treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all; it’s tailored to fit what you need, whether that’s inpatient rehab, outpatient support, or both.
At Virtue At The Pointe, we’re here to guide you through that process. You don’t have to do this alone—and you don’t have to guess your way through recovery.
Virtue Recovery understands that recovering from substance use is more than just “not using,” it is a lifestyle change. Virtue offers comprehensive services designed to engage guests in recovery and to build new and long-lasting skills to help our guests remain clean long-term.

What is Inpatient Addiction Treatment?
Inpatient addiction treatment is where recovery gets real. It’s where you remove the noise of the outside world and focus on the one thing that matters most—getting your life back. For many people, outpatient treatment isn’t enough. Inpatient care offers full-time support, structure, and guidance when you need it most.
For many clients, the first step in inpatient addiction treatment is detox—the process of safely clearing drugs or alcohol from the body. At Virtue At The Pointe, we provide medically supervised detox to manage withdrawal symptoms with compassion and clinical care. Detox can be physically and emotionally intense, but with 24/7 support, you won’t go through it alone. Our team ensures you’re as comfortable and stable as possible, preparing you to transition smoothly into the next phase of treatment with a clear mind and a stronger body.
During residential treatment at Virtue At The Pointe, you live on-site with others who are walking the same path. You’ll take part in daily therapy, group work, wellness activities, and personalized treatment planning. Whether you’re battling substance use, trauma, or co-occurring mental health issues, you’ll have a team by your side committed to helping you heal.
This isn’t just a break from the chaos—it’s a reset. A chance to rebuild your health, your mindset, and your future. If you’ve tried to quit on your own and couldn’t, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means it’s time for the kind of support inpatient rehab was designed for.
What is Outpatient Addiction Treatment?
Recovery doesn’t always mean living at a facility full-time. For many people, healing happens in the rhythm of everyday life—with the right support. That’s what outpatient addiction treatment is all about: showing up for your recovery while continuing to care for your family, work, or education.
At our Milwaukie location, Virtue At The Pointe offers two key outpatient programs: PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) for those who need full-day structure and IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) for those who need regular support but more flexibility. Both programs include group therapy, individual counseling, and education sessions that give you tools for handling stress, triggers, and emotions.
Outpatient care gives you the best of both worlds—freedom with structure, independence with guidance. Whether you’re stepping down from inpatient treatment or starting your journey here, our Milwaukie team is ready to walk alongside you.

Addiction Treatment Therapies
Psychoeducation Groups
Psychoeducation groups provide guests with the information they need to understand and address their addictions. Topics taught include relapse prevention, healthy relationships, and co-occurring disorders. Virtue Recovery promotes the Disease Model, and many of the psychoeducational groups are in support of this model.
Process Groups
Process groups provide guests the opportunity to talk about the issues bothering them and to share with peers. Learning to open and talk to others is a skill many addicts lack and is a major part of substance use recovery. In these groups, patients are provided a safe environment where they can share without fear of judgment or reprisal.
12-Step Groups
12-Step groups involve both staff and individuals from 12-step programs outside of Virtue. These groups allow guests to learn about 12-step groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics anonymous and make contacts and look for a sponsor before they leave treatment.
Meditation Therapy
Meditation therapy allows our guests to find their Zen place. Using meditation techniques, our guests can lower their stress, anxiety, and pain levels. Meditation contributes to overall well-being and a healthy mind. Our experienced meditation therapists use various meditation techniques, allowing guests to take home the technique that best works for them.
Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy is offered 5 days a week. Our Yoga therapist helps our guests to relax and unlock their inner potential. Yoga therapy improves circulation, reduces stress, increases energy, provides pain relief, and creates improved mental well-being.
Music Therapy
Music Therapy is used to address physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. After assessing each guest’s strengths and conditions, our certified music therapist provides our guests with treatment that includes creating, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music. Music therapy provides another medium for guests to address their well-being and recovery from substance addiction.
Art Therapy
Art therapy is based on the fact that creative expression fosters healing and mental well-being. Creating art helps people open up emotions, develop self-awareness, reduce stress, and boost self-esteem. Art therapy teaches the guest that he or she has value. Our certified art therapist uses art to help patients overcome their addictions and treat withdrawal symptoms.

What is The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?
A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a structured, full-day treatment option for individuals who need intensive addiction care without the need for overnight stays. PHP offers many of the same services as inpatient treatment—such as therapy, medical support, and group counseling—but allows clients to return home or to sober living at the end of each day.
At Virtue At The Pointe, our PHP provides a high level of clinical support through a combination of individual therapy, group sessions, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention planning. Clients typically attend programming five days a week, making it an ideal step-down from residential treatment or a strong starting point for those with a stable home environment.
This level of care is especially beneficial for individuals who need daily structure and accountability, but also want the flexibility to stay connected to their personal responsibilities. PHP bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, creating a smooth, supportive transition into long-term recovery.

What is The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?
Getting sober is just the beginning—staying sober takes consistent effort, support, and guidance. That’s where the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) comes in. It gives you a place to keep working on yourself without putting your life on hold.
At our Milwaukie center, IOP involves several sessions each week that include therapy, peer support, and education focused on staying grounded in recovery.
